What is the Stone Sealing process?
Whether inside or out, sealing and waterproofing your stone will not only protect it but also enhance the color of your stone and reduce the growth of mold, moss, and mildew. To best protect your stone, we do the following:
Preparation
As with most projects, the preparation is the most important step. Prior to applying the protective treatment, existing sealers must be removed and the surface must be completely cleaned and degreased.
Stone
To seal your stone, our professionals apply a highly protective treatment. This is absorbed by your stone in approximately 15 to 30 minutes.
Grout
Grout can seem like a pain to take care of. However, properly sealing your grout will save you time and money in the long run.
Second Application as Needed
Certain surfaces in your home need multiple applications to seal properly. This includes on countertop edges, under lips or on vertical stone.
How Can I Test My Seal?
As a stone owner, it is important to test your stone’s seal on a regular basis. You are able to do this yourself using water and mineral oil. Dab about a tablespoon of each on your stone and let it sit for 15 minutes to 4 hours. Afterward, wipe the liquid off your counter. If you noticed a color change where the liquid sat, you need to reseal your stone.
